Welcome to Te Kiteroa Lodge
Te Kiteroa translates from Maori to "The long view"
Wake up to Bellbird song and spectacular sunrises! The Lodge's unique setting is at the foot of the Hunters Hills, close to native bush with stunning panoramic coastal views - only 2 minutes from the centre of town and a short distance off SH1. Waimate is halfway between Christchurch-Dunedin and known as the Gateway to the Waitaki Valley and some of the South Island's most scenic lakes. Step off the highway and discover a piece of paradise.
The Lodge is a comfortable and affordable luxury lodge with guest dining room, TV lounge, 3 double bedrooms with ensuite (super king-size bed, turret room and queen-size bed). Each bedroom enjoys a "long view" of hills and coastal scenes.
The Lodge produces local wine from its own vineyard and operates a cellar door. Unwind at the end of the day with a glass of local wine in hand and a soak in the outdoor hot tub.

The Whitehorse Walkway initially takes you up through regenerated native bush and into part of a private exotic forest. Enjoy the fresh pine fragrance and views as an integral part of your experience. The fantails will charm you with their friendliness as they flt about after the insects you disturb. Answer their chirp of thanks. It is well appreciated.
There is a separate mountain bike track for those wishing to chance the downhill run.
A vineyard, winery, and olive grove are at the front gate.
The Cellar Door is open daily and wine is available for purchase.
The Whitehorse Walkway and Mountain Bike Trail starts at the Lodge front gate. Take a stroll through the remnant and regenerating native forest with native birdsong and some very large specimen native trees. The walkway leads to the White Horse monument on top of the Waimate Hills, which provides fantastic views from the Pacific Ocean through to the Southern Alps.
