Pure holiday pleasure: Your apartment in Binz on the island of Rugen
Binz was first mentioned in a document in 1318 as Byntze. Around 1830 guests of the prince bathed to Putbus at the mouth of the Ahlbeck. But it should still last about 55 years, until Binz was appointed officially to the bathing resort and the guests streamed into the place. As a result, the Kurhaus, the Seebrücke and the beach promenade were built and the road network expanded. Little by little, the so-called lodging houses were built in the villa style associated with spa architecture. This architectural style is typical of the towns on the Baltic coast; it was created with the construction of Heiligendamm, the oldest European seaside resort. If you walk through the town from your apartment in Binz on the island of Rugen, you will see numerous buildings from this “bathing era”, especially along the lake promenade. Here, at dusk, the Binz Kurhaus also shines in beautiful lighting. If you turn from your holiday home in Binz (Rugen) towards Schmachter See, you will reach the Park of the Senses. It was opened in May 2003 and offers its visitors a wonderful ensemble of fountains, terraces, trees, bushes and watercourses. Roses and other scented gardens beguile the senses, the labyrinth sharpens the spatial sensation, the fruit meadow provides the appropriate idyll, while the barbecue area, a water playground and other areas invite visitors of all ages to become active in every respect. If you are interested in historical sacred buildings, you can also reach the village church and the Stella Maris church on foot from your apartment in Binz.
Relax on the beautiful beaches of Rugen
The wonderful beaches of Rugen are perfect for a carefree bathing holiday. Binzer Strand alone is five kilometres long and in some places even 50 metres wide. Swimming, surfing and sailing can therefore be one of the main activities during a holiday on Rugen. Your private holiday home in Binz, Rugen, is also very suitable as a starting point for discovery trips around the island, as Rugen is the largest German island with an area of almost 930 km². Caspar David Friedrich was already impressed by the chalk cliffs, which are now located in the Jasmund National Park on the peninsula of the same name. From your accommodation in Binz on the island of Rugen you should also make a detour to Putbus, because there you will find beautiful historical buildings. Perhaps you can plan your arrival or return journey via the German Avenue Road, that dreamlike, approximately 2,500 km long panoramic road that begins on Rugen and ends at Konstanz.
