Finally, the remains of James, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus, are said to have found their last resting place in the remarkable cathedral. Along with Jerusalem and Rome, Santiago de Compostela is still one of the most important pilgrimage destinations of the Christian religion. So it is hardly surprising that there are numerous accommodations such as hotels, guesthouses and guest rooms around the famous city. If you can’t reach the city on foot via the famous Way of St James, you can either take one of the many flights to Santiago or take the train that stops at the main train station. Your apartment in Santiago de Compostela is in the old town? Then you are staying right in an area declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Take your time to explore the impressive cathedral, to experience the lively alleys (especially the Rúa do Franco) with its shops, restaurants, pubs and discotheques and also take a look at the “cultural city Galicia” on the mountain Gaias. Here, a breathtaking complex full of art and culture was created. Also worth seeing is the “Hospital de los Reyes Católicos”; already since 1509, pilgrims were welcomed in this hostel. Today, it is one of the oldest hotels in the world.

Great place to stay. Hosts were very helpful and friendly. Location is easy walking distance to the city centre (10 mins) and good facilities in area for cafe and little snacks. Place was clean and tidy and everything worked fine. Parking not a problem for us but I'm not sure if we just got lucky!!
