Information about Sopot

Sopot is one of the most important tourist centres on the Gdansk Bay and has become famous for its Baltic seaside resort. Our apartments in Sopot are located in the very north of Poland, not far from the Russian border. Despite its long settlement history, the cityscape is predominantly dominated by young architecture. Book with us your private holiday apartment in Sopot and get to know and love Poland’s Baltic coast.

Your apartment in Sopot as a starting point for a trip through the north of Poland

Sopot is part of the Trójmiasto conurbation, which also includes Gdansk and Gdynia. The history of the settlement goes back to the 13th century, when the first fishing village developed here. However, the actual ascent did not begin until 1823, when the first lido and sanatorium were opened. As a result, Sopot quickly developed into a noble seaside resort that was able to attract even international guests. Due to the timely evacuation of Sopot from the approaching troops of the Red Army in spring 1945, the city was largely spared from extensive destruction. Worth seeing is above all the more than 500 meters long wooden jetty, which reaches far into the bay of Gdansk as a sea bridge. Here you will find numerous restaurants where you can enjoy delicious fresh fish. One of the oldest buildings in the city is the Catholic Church of St. Andrew Bobola. The Polish Jesuit and martyr, who gave the town its name, is still deeply revered today. There are hardly any offers for couchsurfing in Sopot. Therefore you should better look around for a private accommodation in Sopot. From your apartment in Sopot you can also visit the surrounding cities. Just a little further south is the former Hanseatic city of Gdansk. The first traces of settlement date back to pre-Christian times. The city reached its economic peak in the Middle Ages, when Gdansk was considered the richest city in the world. This was due to its position as the most important port of the Poland-Lithuania community of states, with around 80% of foreign trade being handled via Gdansk. From 1522 onwards, the city became increasingly involved in religious and political conflicts that lasted into the 20th century. Despite severe destruction during the Second World War, you will find numerous historically valuable sights near our Apartments in Gdansk. The most important landmark of the city is the Krantor, which was built in its present form in 1444 and is now part of the Schifffahrtsmuseum. Also worth seeing is the so-called Artushof on the Langen Markt, which housed the Gdansk Stock Exchange from the 15th century onwards.

Explore the surroundings from your private holiday home in Sopot

Großendorf, in Polish Wladyslawowo, lies on the Hel peninsula. In addition to tourism, Großendorf also has a popular seaside resort, ensuring the small town above all fishing economic prosperity. The largest fishing port in Poland is located here, from where fishing fleets can penetrate into Arctic waters. From your private holiday home in Großendorf you can easily reach the coastal landscape park established in 1978, which is supplemented by a permanent exhibition in the Hallerówka house. The village of Jurata is part of the municipality of Jastarnia and lies in the middle of the Hel peninsula. There you will find a beautiful pine forest that stretches to the sunny southern beach, which is especially popular with wealthy visitors. It is also thanks to these that Jurata, despite its exposed location, is connected to the railway network. "You can find Apartments in Jurata here with us. From Sopot from the east you can quickly reach the border to Russia via a well-developed expressway network. Kaliningrad, for example, awaits you there. Kaliningrad’s first economic rise began in 1242, when Lübeck merchants set up their first trading bases on the city’s present-day territory. Today more than half a million people live in Kaliningrad. The city centre is characterised by numerous parks and open spaces which exude a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Worth seeing is above all the Königstor as the last preserved part of the fortifications built in the 19th century. A visit to Königsberg Cathedral is also a must for many visitors. The main reason for this is not necessarily the architectural peculiarity of today’s cultural centre, but rather the grave of the great philosopher Immanuel Kant directly at the back of the cathedral. And if you’d like to visit Russia’s capital, you’ll find a number of cosy Apartments in Moscow.

The place was really great in a very good location- very close to the center but in a very quite and peacfull locatin. Many beautiful historic buildings nearby. We had everything we needed in the house and it was very clean and comfortable. . There are 3 seperate bedrooms in the apartment -we had one and in the other rooms there were other guests.
The host was very friendly and told us a lot where to go and what to see. Sopot is really a marvelous place- beautiful beaches and plenty of good restaurants. Also very fast and easy to get to old town Gdansk.
