For many people, Dresden evokes images of Dresden dolls and the terrible bombing the city experienced during world war two. Since the reunification of Germany though, Dresden has set about rebuilding its shattered architecture and it is now once again deserving of the title given to the city by Canaletto, ‘Florence on the Elbe’. The city is a heady cocktail of art, culture and architecture and renting a holiday apartment in Dresden from 9flats.com will make you feel part of the city rather than just a tourist. Where couchsurfing in Dresden places you in an authentic house, a holiday apartment in Dresden will give you all of that ‘real Dresden’ experience while providing you with added privacy and comfort in your very own room or apartment. From your holiday accommodation in Dresden you will be perfectly placed to explore at least some of this fine city’s 56 galleries, 44 museums and 35 theatres while enjoying its spectacular architecture.
Enjoying your own holiday apartment in Dresden
From your vacation home in Dresden you can explore some of the most amazing Baroque architecture in Europe and wander among some extraordinary buildings. The Residenzschloss for example was home to the Saxon kings and is now a fabulous museum where the extraordinary treasure trove of the Grünes Gewölbe (Green Vault) is housed. The Zwinger meanwhile was built as a decadent party palace for the royals and you can now stroll in the magnificent courtyards while admiring the rich sculpture of the buildings. Don’t forget to stroll along the banks of the Dresdner Elbtal, itself a UNESCO world heritage site, and enjoy sipping a beer in the almost Mediterranean atmosphere of the cafes.
Choosing holiday accommodation in Dresden
On the east bank of the Elbe, a holiday apartment in Neustadt is a great place to explore the narrow, winding streets, with countless little restaurants and bars and the Neustädter Markt at its heart. Nearby, a holiday apartment in Niederpoyritz will find you in an attractive and popular tourist area. This scenic district of Dresden is on the north bank of the Elbe and close to the Pillnitz Palace, making it an ideal base from where to explore this beautiful city.
Travelling outside of Dresden
In the south of Germany, a stay at a holiday apartment in Munich will let you experience an entirely different German culture. This capital of Bavaria is home to the world famous Oktoberfest Munich Beer Festival and the Oompah bands, Lederhosen and traditional beer halls are simply unforgettable. To change the atmosphere, a short hop over the snowy Alps will bring you to a holiday home in Milan with fabulous fashion and fantastic football teams and the great food of northern Italy. Whether you have a taste for sausage and sauerkraut in Bavaria or pasta and veal Milanese in Milan, 9flats.com has holiday apartments in beautiful locations all over the world. So book now for a truly unique experience and add authenticity to your holiday accommodation.

This is the perfect place to stay in Dresden. The flat is actually much bigger than it appears on the pictures.Katja reviewed Gästewohnung in der Neustadt in Dresden-Neustadt
Even though it is located very close to the "party spot" it is completly quit.
I was not lucky with the weather but the balcony is perfect if you visit in summer.
Also perfect for a longer stay (I stayed one month) as everything you could possibly need is available.
Very comfortable apartment. Everything you need, is at hand. The ´Altstadt´ is some 800m walking or two stops with the Strassenbahn. If you are old, handicapped or wheezy, this is not the right place: the apartment is on the 4th flour and there is no elevator. Sehr gemütliche Wohnung in der Dresdner Neustadt. Super Lage im Szeneviertel. Alles da, was man braucht.Kerstin reviewed Gästewohnung in der Neustadt in Dresden-Neustadt
Our stay in Dresden came in very tropical weather (36 to 37° celcius, even in the appartment itselve). There was no possibility to cool down the appartment al little bit. A little fan would be welcome. Some more light above the table in the livingroom could give the opportunety to read a book.Bert reviewed Neustadt-Wohnung: zentral & ruhig in Dresden-Neustadt
