As a veteran journalist working for a global media company for 15 years, I used to be travelling a lot to cover events, staying in various accommodations and playing the role as a guest. Now I am here playing the role as a host. Such a backdrop coupled with my passion for travel, meeting people, traditional architecture and literature led me to take the plunge as a hotelier. The husband of my former chief editor floated this possibility of buying a hotel in Gili Trawangan, just two hours by fast boat from Bali not long ago. I fell in love with the tiny island, famous for its snorkeling and diving sites, at first sight. The villa was launched in May 2014. I enjoy meeting people and making new friends and find being a hotelier is not that too different from being a journalist. Still, it's not always easy dealing with people with different personalities and coming from different corners of the world but being a hotelier and previously full-time journalist has strengthened my belief that people are basically the same, they like making new friends.
