Über Herwig
I was born 1963 in Vienna, Austria, developed a strong passion for watersports early on. While studying medicine, I became a member of the Austrian Olympic Sailing Team reaching 5th place at the Tornado Sailing World Championships in 1986. Switching from sailing to windsurfing, three years later I had to make the difficult decision of giving up my future medical degree in favour of a professional sports career and competed for several years in the Windsurfing World Cup. My love for the sea made me settle down in Ericeira, a Portuguese Atlantic resort near Lisbon. Since then I have been involved in several IT, Art and Tourism projects as graphic designer, web designer and programmer. In 1997 I met the Colombian artist Claudia Fernandez and embarked a new project with glass art and design, adding a new material to my repertoire. Today, I own my own glass studio and work as freelancer in IT and Communications for clients in the Biotech, Pharma and Tourism field. btw. my nickname is Vickel
