About Zoe

Hi, I am Zoë, a Brit who feels completely at home here on the Big Island. This amazing place with the very best people you'll ever meet, so many terrains; jungle, desert, rainforest, jungle, rolling ranchlands, snow-capped mountains and Kilauea, our very own live volcano, making the Big Island bigger every moment as lava falls steaming into the ocean; twelve of the world's sixteen weather patterns; green, black, gray and white sand beaches; the world's highest mountain (from the seabed up!), warm ponds heated by the volcano under the palms nestled by a sun-soaked ocean, snorkeling, kayaking, caving, climbing, surfing, paddle-boarding, zip-lining, hiking, swimming, farmer's markets, national parks, and so much more... delicious local foods; beauty, beauty and more beauty; magnificent waterfalls, ancient giant mango groves, the stark black lava rock, the clear blue skies and the warm waters of turquoise ocean. Giant turtles, spinner dolphins and whales who swim wild and free with us as we play in the ocean! We enjoy them all. We are family oriented with many friends and family, local and international, who often stay at our home. We enjoy a simple island lifestyle, gatherings of good company, good music, good food and we prefer to live alcohol-free and smoke-free. We have three dogs, Koa, Maui and Lilikoi, all of whom are well-socialzed and well-behaved. We're a low-tech family, no broadcast TV, no video games, although we do have the internet and Netflix for the movies we love to watch together. As a family (however many of us there are at home!) we play board games, any games, sing, write, create arts and crafts, garden, cook, bake, and spend time in the great outdoors of the Big Island, cycling, hiking, swimming, kayaking and boogie-boarding, amongst other things. We cook our food from scratch, using local or home-grown ingredients as much as possible. We encourage you to try the delicious local food whilst you are here, ours and all the island has to offer; I can heartily recommend Hilo's 'Bueno Burrito' for a a healthy, good-value meal and the best Mexican on the island, 'Bar Hime' for the best Sushi, 'Ken's House of Pancakes' for some local diner-style color and many more... COUNSELING AND COACHING: I am a UK-qualified psychotherapist specializing in intensive, short-term therapy for eating disorders and obesity; I can work with most issues (including alcohol, drugs and quit-smoking) as well as being a parenting coach, life-coach and health-coach. Please ask if you need support in moving forward in some area of your life or need to let go of something which isn't serving you anymore. If I have availability we can set up times to work together when you are here and continue when you return home, if necessary. MARRIAGES AND CEREMONY: I am licensed to officiate for all regular ceremonies in the State of Hawaii. I have a broad experience in creating profound, heartfelt, personal ceremonies for all of life's milestones and rites of passage; naming, blessings, transition into adulthood (at any age!), partnership, marriage, vow renewal, wealth creation, calling in (of an ideal partner, of a new life circumstance, etc), divorce, awake wakes, funerals and burial/spreading of ashes. You can combine any of these with your stay at Hale Pono at a separate cost. If you are interested in any of these ceremonies, please contact me to discuss further.
