About Marika
Doug Hopkins and Marika Handakas bought this property in order to save it from the wrecking ball. Doug, artist and innkeeper, restored the property himself and his artistic touches are everywhere, from the colorful paint on the main house, to the handmade tile counter tops, back splashes, and tile shower in the Catawissa Suite, to the stained glass windows in each suite. The property has been considered special enough to be featured in This Old House magazine. We moved here from New York City and never looked back. Doug, an enthusiastic educator, also offers instruction in ceramics and stained glass to individuals and small groups. Marika, an experienced psychologist and psychoanalyst, also offers premarital and marital workshops for traditional and non-traditional couples.
