Try something really different on your next vacation, live aboard a 1983 39ft SeaRay!
Parked at a beautiful marina with lush landscaping in the artsy Upper East Side of North Miami. Watch the dolphins frolic in the bay and lethargic manatees float by. Sunset/ sunrise takes on many beautiful canvases.
About living on a boat:
You are more in tune with the elements than when you are insulated by a house. The water rocks gently (it's a bay not open ocean so there are never high foot seas). The living room has a partial glass ceiling so you can watch the rain fall overhead (totally romantic, you have a better chance of seeing it during the summer months in Florida). You hop on and off the boat from a dock. As the tide changes your hop can be tiny or more noticeable. Around a full moon your hop becomes more of a climb on to the boat so please take this in to consideration! There are skid proof strips and a safety handrail for your protection. If you choose to sleep with the windows open the stars are right up above you and the bay breeze brushes your face. Spend a couple hours sleeping on the bow or stern and you'll appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. It truly is an experience to try at least once in your lifetime!
About stormy weather:
If the winds are gusting really high and you suffer from motion sickness, staying on a boat can adversely affect your experience. Our cancellation policy is up until one day prior to check in so that you can monitor the 10 day weather report, we want you to love your stay here!
About the neighborhood:
The boat is situated in a safe, private, gated condominium community with complimentary parking for marina visitors & residents. The neighborhood is Historic Bayside in the Upper Eastside. Many homes here date to the Roaring Twenties, a time when Carl Fisher famously hung a winter sign in Times Square New York saying it was "June in Miami." He sparked Florida's housing boom and the growth of a city that has so much to offer. The residents are a diverse group of artists, photographers, journalists, start-ups and writers. The marina is a short walk to one of Miami's top restaurants- Michelle Bernstein's Michy's and Upper EastSide boutiques such as Rebel. The marina is less than 10 minutes from Design District restaurants such as Michael's Genuine, local's favorite Mandolin Aegan Bistro, Sustain and Sugar Cane. It is also close to hip clothing shops, galleries and the fabulous Wynwood Walls. The boat is located a quick 15 minutes from South Beach.
About the boat & the marina:
The main room has a private bedroom with an extremely comfortable bed which is decorated with fresh Missoni linens and sleeps 2 people. Port windows provide a calming water view. The side room has bunk beds that sleep 2 people and the living room has a convertible couch which extends to sleep 2. The boat sleeps 6 people but for your comfort max 2 to 3 will be allowed. There is a new, flat screened TV with cable included and DVD player in the living room. The bow is great for sunning and the aft comfortably seats about 10 people. The kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator, sink & stove. It is equipped with plates, cups, silverware, glasses, coffee maker etc.
The bathroom has a shower (sorry, no hot water) and there is also a private bathroom & shower in marina plus lots of additional facilities (with hot water) at the gorgeous pool area. There is a hair dryer and clothes iron on board.
There is free wifi access on the boat ( the router is near the boat so the speed is great) and there is wifi throughout parts of the marina. The captain's lounge has ethernet access.
For your convenience there is a coin operated Washer/Dryer at the marina.
Pool, hot tub, tree top style small gym, barbeque grills, tennis courts, bright pink bougainvillea plants, exotic landscaping and huge bay views are some of the nice perks for total relaxation.
There are brand new T-top covers on the boat so that you can sit outdoors and still be in the shade, or thick comfy seats for getting sun.
The marina entrance has a card access security gate. There is a dockmaster during the day and a guard at the community gate.
To rent a car or not?
There is a bus stop about a 5 minute walk outside the yacht club grounds, the stops are frequent and iphone users will love the that the maps app shows schedules. A day pass runs about $5 and $26 for a week. Rental car rates start about $9 depending upon the season and type of car. The nearest grocery store is about 20 blocks away. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the marina. See our guidebook for places and distances.
Please let us know your anticipated arrival time/ flight number ahead of schedule so that we can make sure that somebody meets you at the marina with key passes.
Parking is to right or left of the tennis court and pool area, just not the covered parking spots.
Please call or text when you land so that we can start heading over to the marina to greet you. If you are coming in on an international flight and don't have a cell just let us know and we can track your flight arrival and meet you at the marina. Thanks!~
