Information about Theresienwiese

Theresienwiese is predominantly a vast area of open space in the borough of Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt in Munich. The area is surrounded by mainly residential neighbourhoods, and it stands empty for most of the year. However, to say this unused area of meadow comes to life every October would be a massive understatement. The world-renowned Oktoberfest takes place in this area of Munich once every year, and people from all over the world descend on Theresienwiese to sample local beers, foods and German folk music. It is estimated that well over 6 million people visit the festival every year, so finding local hotel rooms in the area can be something of a challenge. However, vacation rentals in Theresienwiese means you can relax in seclusion whilst enjoying an element of luxury.

Luxurious and Secluded Apartments in Theresienwiese

Although the Oktoberfest dominates this area’s tourism market, it is not the only festival in town. The area hosts a smaller festival in spring and the Winter Tollwood festival later in the year. Germany’s largest flea market takes place on the Oktoberfest site every April, and it attracts bargain-hunters from across Europe. However, nothing in the area comes close to matching the appeal and popularity of Oktoberfest. This 16-day celebration of German life actually begins at the end of September, and it usually concludes on the first full weekend of October.

Although the world knows this stunning event as the Oktoberfest, the locals refer to it as ‘die Wiesn’ – the colloquial name for fairgrounds in German. Such is the broad appeal of this incredible festival, other cities across the world hold simultaneous Oktoberfest celebrations in their own way. If you’re considering a trip to Germany’s most famous beer festival, make sure you can retreat to your very own vacation rental in Munich for a little luxurious living and privacy.

Vacation Rentals in Theresienwiese in the Heart of the Community

Staying in the neighborhoods and communities that surround Theresienwiese provides access to the festivals by foot, and the centre of Munich is only a short bus or train ride away. However, the vast majority of visitors come to the area of take part in the celebrations. During the 2007 Oktoberfest festivities, organisers estimated that a jaw-dropping 7 million litres of local beer were consumed – all produced within the city limits of Munich.

Make sure you try the vast range of local snacks that are sold throughout the event, including the local delicacy of hendl – a chicken dish. Other popular snacks to watch out for at Oktoberfest include a roast pork dish called Schweinebraten and, of course, bockwurst with sauerkraut. With so much partying in the area, it is important not to forget to learn a little about local customs and traditions, and nearby accommodation in Westpark booked through 9flats.com you to do just that.

The place was easy enough to find (Serena provided good directions from the train station). And the room was nice! Had everything we needed, Serena was very kind for the short interactions we had with her! Would stay again (:

A nice room in a good location for me in Munich. I needed access to the U6 line, which was a few minutes' walk away. The house is kept clean, if a little cluttered. The kitchen had most of what I needed, although I wasn't sure of the waste disposal process!
Getting hold of the key was made easy, particularly important when I arrived in the middle of the night (due to flight issues).
Perhaps it is the way Munich is, but for a private room, this did seem a little pricey.

The place is fantastic. We´ve been on free organ concerto in the church next to the house. The area is very green. There are also lot shops and pubs and the city centre is close.
