Our boutique house in Komi village of Tinos Island was first built in the beginning of the 19th century (1810) according to the local architecture. It is one of the oldest and most traditional houses of the village. When we saw it about a decade ago while looking for a house to buy in the Cyclades, we immediately fell in love with it, although it was in ruins, and we decided to buy it. We completely renovated the house while keeping the elements of the traditional (and initial) architecture. We replanted the garden and arranged it in different spaces, constructed a small secondary unit, as well as a built-in stone barbecue. The renovation process took a few years as we were extremely passionate and involved and spent a lot of time handpicking each and every one of the items that would make this house. You can find the history of the house as well as the renovation process in an album that we keep inside the house.
The house itself is a two-story building. The ground floor has an entrance on the main street of the village. It has a guest room with two beds and its bathroom, a small fridge, a living room and an extra bathroom. On this floor you can admire the authentic and beautiful elements of Tinian architecture that were preserved during the renovation: multiple little corners, wall arches and even its very own wine press. The upper floor is the main house with two rooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, a washer and a living room. From this floor you can exit to the garden. The garden, which is described above, is the perfect spot to relax at any time of the day. There is a marble table and a stone barbecue for relaxing dinners with family and friends under the Mediterranean stars.
The house is located in the center of the village. The neighbors are very nice and pleasant, most of them living in the village all year round. A small grocery store in the village, as well as a small cafe that serves delicious food made from local produce are only a few steps away from the house. The village itself is in the center of the island so every destination is relatively close. One of the best beaches of the island (Kolymbithra) is only 1km away, so you're more than welcome to use the bicycles that we keep in the house and bike to the beach. There is also a bus that connects the village to the main town of Tinos and to the beach.
Overall, we are certain that you will enjoy the house as much as we do and you will have the opportunity to spend an amazing vacation and discover the beautiful island of Tinos.
