Marguerite's Oasis, Sanur, Bali
That is the real place for rest and relaxation! The location, the fairy-tale garden full of picture-perfect details, lush foliage, fragrant flowers, typical Balinese temples and various outdoor spaces contribute to this. Komang provides the icing on the cake and the local atmosphere at home. She guarantees the famous welcoming Balinese service and enchanting kindness.
The central location also makes the villa an ideal base for discovering the authentic Bali.
Stay in a stylish bed and breakfast in a quiet Balinese district, where chickens run free on the street and tourist crowds will not be noticed.
Nevertheless, it is only 6 km to Sanur and Sanur Beach and about 16 km to the city surrounded by rice fields, cultural heart of Bali, Ubud.
Restaurants and shopping can be reached by car/motorbike.
It is 1,5 km to the surf beach where you can also find a promenade to the west and east.
Shopping, sightseeing, hiking, biking, traditional dance performances, it's all open to you, like spa treatments, yoga and meditation (whether or not by the sea).
We also have contact and personal, intense experience with one of the most famous 'Balians' (traditional healers) of Bali. He lives not far away from us.
We can assist you with scooter rental or a driver with a car.
The following services are included in the price:
- Breakfast at the time you desire (Pancake fruit, toast, jam, and/or egg of choice, and sometimes, if you like, Indonesian fried rice, accompanied by tea, coffee and every day changing succulent fresh fruit juices)
- Bed linen and towels
- Komang cleans the room every day and makes the beds.
- She also daily does the laundry for guests. (If you want your clothes to be ironed, no problem, but give a small donation for the good family spirit - it is, after all Bali -)
- Cold bottles of drinking water (for 'at home') and coffee and tea
- The ability to follow an Indonesian course on the computer
- Transfer to and from the airport: we are a private villa and have no possibility to pick you up. But we can arrange it for 200.000 IDR for each pick-up and dropp-off.)
- If you want you can have a hot evening meal at the villa (meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan).
Komang understands the art of serving delicious meals, more or less spicy, just what you want, and you can also submit any dietary needs. For the cost, you do not have to skip it: 40.000 IDR per person!
- In the evening you can play badminton.
- Our scooters are for rent at a favorable rate (if you want to use it, please bring along your international driving license).
- You can buy some soft drinks and beer at cost in the villa.
- There is the possibility to get a massage at home (in your room or in our cozy open-air massage pavilion) (order).
The room features a guest bathroom on the ground floor. It contains a 'normal' toilet, hot/cold water shower, bathtub and sink.
In the room you will find a fan, a mosquito net, air conditioning and it allows you to pull back on your private balcony. Obviously there is closet space and a safe.
We have contacts with several Balinese drivers. Driving with them makes your (half)day trips and multi-day trips, but also your ordinary "taxi rides" cheaper. More importantly, our regular driver 'pak Wayan’ is very nice, helpful, drives safely and also acts as a guide. He has a large (7 pp), good air-conditioned car and has a good feeling about what people want; he often chooses beautiful scenic routes and knows both the more western and local eateries. He bursts from the (trip)ideas, speaks decent English and can tell a lot about Balinese culture and also about nature (plants, trees, birds, etc.). He is always available on time. Of course you are free to choose a driver, but with him it will be good anyway!
Some extra personal information:
I am Marguerite van de Poll and I live in The Netherlands, and a couple of times each year I visit Bali for quite a while and go to my private room in Marguerite's Oasis. I visit Komang and Chris. Komang lost her mother, I have no children, and she asked me to be her mamma. We have a very nice, loving mother/daughter relationship.
Komang, your host, is a young Balinese woman who obviously speaks Balinese and Indonesian language, but also good English. She is always available and if necessary she makes appointments for you with masseuses, drivers and taxis. She went to the School for tourism and already has quite some experience in this field.
For all the more ‘male’ jobs, there is Chris, who also is always helpful in thinking along with you and solving problems. He is a retired, very active Austrian man who lives in the villa in his private room. He moved to Bali nearly 10 years ago.
They both are very happy to welcome guests.
Komang baptized the villa Marguerite’s Oasis, you will see why!
Because both Chris and Komang live in this oasis, they have a lot of contacts with the local population and can open doors for you that normally remain closed to tourists. Think for example of the private address of a woodcarving worker, who can make you the most beautiful things on order, whereas normally he delivers production for galleries.
Bali is among other things synonymous with the colorful offering from the Balinese Hindus to appease the gods. Look how Komang herself artfully makes them. Every evening she puts them with incense at various locations in and around the house. The scooters are not forgotten!
Both breakfast and your potential dinner are served in the outdoor dining area.
On the balcony of the guest room on the 1st floor and in the lush garden, you can enjoy sun, shade, peace and privacy, while the old granary is ready for your outdoor massage.
If I am not in my Oasis, my room is available for guests as well. So if you would like to book 2 rooms, just check out with me whether my room is free (the last picture shows you how to reach me).
Of course I am very involved in life in the Oasis, and I want everything to work out. So, if you have any trouble you cannot or don’t want to discuss with either Chris or Komang, just let me know, I will handle it (the last picture shows you how to reach me). If I am in Bali myself I will give you my local number.
It is important to realize this place is ideal for people who want to be able to relax and find peace. Like you could already read in the text above, in our area you can enjoy hiking, biking, various art performances and all kinds of wellness and meditation/yoga.
I have been seeing one of the most famous 'Balians' (traditional healers) of Bali. He lives not far away from us and officially has been retired being almost 90 years old. Going there was a unique and impressive experience for us. This Balian can diagnose your emotional, spiritual and physical condition and can also help you improve things, if need be. Up to your situation, the results can have a wonderful, incredible impact.
You can get at the beach after a 10 minutes walk. It is not ideal for bathing, (surfing is possible), but you can walk on the promenade and relax, without touristic crowds like in Kuta.
We live in the area of the artists. It is only a couple of km to various silver- and goldsmiths, painters, stone- and woodcarvers, whereas interesting spots as the Butterflypark, Orchid Garden, Safari Park, Hot Springs and The Birdspark and the immense local (art)market of Sukawati are also closeby.
So, if you enjoy getting welcomed in a quiet, friendly, homely and helpful atmosphere, with plenty of service and meals available, and if you love to get in touch with the real local life and culture of the country you visit, then Marguerite’s Oasis is not just the right place for me, but for you too.
It would be nice to welcome you in our Oasis! Selamat datang (welcome),
Komang, Chris, Marguerite
