WHAT IS THE URBAN AND ARCHITECTURAL VALUE RUSSAFA?
The "Project First Extension" 1887 would reach the limit of "ex -pueblo Ruzafa", being designed by architect Francisco Mora in two plans, one in 1912 which was followed by another later in 1924. With this Plan is conducive the replacement of old buildings in the old town by new buildings forming blocks. The construction of the Eixample in this area is carried out mainly in the first decades of this century, with a notable increase in heights from 1925. This is a plot of singular Eixample, a place where new building ordinances with highly reminiscent of the old town public space, fully differentiated the First Extension of Valencia characterized by the orthogonal grid, which gives it a spatial configuration with its own personality and particular conditions of interest. It stresses the urban organization of this nucleus around the church of San Valero. The constant perception of the steeple of the Church from the different paths of the core, provide great visual landscape quality different. The relationship between free space and built is another of its singular values as the necessary adaptation of the Eixample the old town streets and funds generated prospects of great landscape value. In relation to the building, is characterized by a constructed for the middle class architecture, based housing between party recayentes the street and courtyard. Ordinances "widening" envisaged the construction of buildings up to three stories, but successive ordinances that have gradually height up to 8 floors in some cases. These recent buildings coexist with original examples that maintain the proper architectural character of Ruzafa, characterized by a popular historicist style present throughout the neighborhood, where Modernist buildings are mixed with other eclectic, in which reworkings from consolidated styles are combined: Neo-Baroque samples, free interpretations and the most diverse ornamentations, setting its own environmental landscape of the neighborhood.
