A microcosm of London's shifting ethnic patterns, the area around Brick Lane in East London was once associated with poor slums and the scene of the crime for the Jack the Ripper murders. Whilst the notorious pub Ten Bells still stands, the area itself is now extremely popular with London’s edgy and artistic crowd, featuring galleries, restaurants, markets and festivals throughout the year.
The Old Truman Brewery at 91 Brick Lane houses a vibrant market where up-and-coming designers set up shop every Sunday selling a unique variety of clothes, handbags and jewellery. There are also vintage clothing stores and chic boutiques dotted around the area.
As a hub of London's Bangladeshi community, Brick Lane has always been famed for its many authentic curry restaurants. It now also has a reputation for its warehouse art exhibitions and trendy clubs and bars. So, before your East London experience is complete, be sure to head to the Vibe Bars beer garden or 93 Feet East (150 Brick Lane) which has become an East End institution well known for its eclectic mix of live music and intimate atmosphere.
A really vibrant area with so much to do when you are not busy out there shopping.

Second stay here, still recommendable. Very good value for the money. Perfectly located (walking distance to Liverpool Street station, if you like walking also to the city centre - ca. 30 mins). Shower in the room is a great thing. Desk even better (lots of hosts do not think that people might need to work during travels).
Kitchen sufficiently equipped, even if a bit run-down (but there´s a catch in everything, isn´t it?).

The location was good, near the tubestation. Instructions to find the place were good. The cleaness of the sheets could have been much better also the shower didnt work proberly. And there was a weird smell in the room. The kitchen was good thou the garden wasnt that nice.

The location was excellent: Tesco and the tube very near. To have a washing machine was great. Some tea towels and potholders in the kitchen would have been good.

I truly admire our host, as all he did was to send us the instructions (we never met him) - and it actually worked out perfectly :) As a result, we enjoyed a very private stay.
