Charming Studio Apartment with view for 2 people in the historic Siena
Cosy open space studio with a view near Piazza del Campo
Amazing apartment in the historical center of Siena.
Located in the most central part of Siena (pedestrian area) just a few steps from "Piazza del Campo", where every year the famous horserace “Il Palio” takes place. It is in Via Duprè, in the medioeval district of “Onda”, and during the Palio the street is very pictoresque, all decorated with white and blu flags.
This apartment is on the first floor of an ancient building and has 2 windows looking out on to the countryside of the southern Siena.
It is well equipped (air conditioning, wifi, kitchen equipement and laundry) and it has been freshly restored; ceilings are very high and beamed, and the interiors are beautifully and elegantly furnished, hand-decorated by a local artist.
Studio. Sleeps 2, 1 Bathroom
The Studio apartment (45 m2) is on the 1st floor (no stairlift) and is composed by:
- entrance and living-room with a sofa-bed (king size), and a reading/writing corner
- bright and comfortable dining-room with a huge table and amazing view over the old town and the countryside
- kitchen (provided with oven, big fridge and freezer, dishwasher and washing/drying machine)
- bathroom with shower.
The area is safe and quite, and all the most important touristic attractions can be easely reached by foot: within a few minutes walking there are the famous Piazza del Campo, the Town Hall Tower (Torre del Mangia), the Piazza del Mercato with the “Tartarugone”, the Synagogue, the Cathedral, the main art museums, the Accademia Chigiana (where during the year classical music concerts take place), the Theaters (Rinnovati theater and “I Rozzi” theater) and the main shopping streets.
Everything you might want - grocery store, restaurants, bars, artisan shops - is within easy walking distance in our typical characteristic neighborhood.
Siena, in the heart of Tuscany, is the best place to use as a base for exploring the surrounding areas. There are local busses to all the characteristic places nearby, such as San Gimignano, Montalcino, Pienza, San Quirico d'Orcia and Asciano, just to name a few! The main Tuscan art cities such Florence, Pisa, Volterra as well as the Wine Chianti Region are in easy access by car or public transportation. And in about 1 hour drive you can reach the wonderful seaside of the “arcipelago toscano”! The historic Talamone in the Maremma Grossetana was the harbour of Siena in the past!
If you have the chance to visit Siena in the Summer, consider that on the 2nd of July and on the 16th of August there is a special event called “il Palio”.The Palio is a historical secular tradition strictly connected with the origin of the Contradas of Siena (districts into which the town is divided). Piazza del Campo is used for the horse race and the whole square is amazingly fit for such manifestations. This traditional popular manifestation lasts four days: from June 29 to July 2 and from August 13 to 16; the evening before the race people eat outside, as each contrada (neighborhood) stages a sumptuous banquet to "rehearse" their surefire victory celebration (Cena della Prova Generale). Our apartment is in the Contrada called “ONDA” (Wave); its “logo” is a swimming dolphin wearing a crown, and its colours are white and blue.
