Kivikoski cottage is a cosy riverside property for up to 8 people located in Pyhtaa, between Kotka and Loviisa in southern Finland. The property comprises the main cottage and also a separate annex building for additional sleeping accommodation. The villa is suitable for holiday location, but also for meetings and festive events. The house is warm and it is suitable for holidays all year around. From the air heating pump you can adjust the heating at the desired temperature in the winter and in the summer.
The accommodation is in two buildings. The main building comprises an open plan sitting and dining area, kitchen, one L-shaped bedroom with two single beds, a sauna, WC and shower downstairs. Extra beds in two small loft sleeping spaces upstairs. One is accessed from a dressing room for sauna and has two single mattresses pushed together and the other is accessed from the living room and has one single mattress. Both loft sleeping spaces are accessed via a ladder, so these spaces are not suitable for children, the disabled or the elderly. The annex building comprises a second bedroom with three single beds and a WC.
On the cottage terrace there is a hot outdoor tub that can be rented separately. Surcharge for one day is 90 euros, for the weekend the price for the hot outdoor tub is 140 euros
The cottage has extensive grassy grounds that are ideal for children to play in and the beautiful terrace is great for admiring the river view from comfortable sun loungers and for enjoying a barbecue on a convenient gas BBQ. The river shore has big rocks and a sandy bathing bay, that is suitable also for young children. The flow in the river is weak and the water flows only enough for the water quality to stay good. The sea can be accessed from the cottage on a boat via a unique hand-operated lock and the distance to the sea is about 3km.
There is a supermarket and a simple restaurant at an ABC service station 1km away in Pyhtää. The village also has a beautiful stone church built around 1460 that is open during the summer months. The seaside towns of Loviisa and Kotka have a wide variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and attractions 20km and 26km away respectively. Svartholma Sea Fortress and the old town in Loviisa and Maretarium, Maritime Centre Vellamo and Imperial Fishing Lodge Museum in Kotka are all well worth a visit, as is the idyllic Stromfors Iron Mill area in Ruotsinpyhtää nearby. All the attractions in Helsinki are also within easy reach either on your own car or bus. The driving time to Helsinki is about one hour. Bus stop to Kotka and Helsinki 2km away.
