SF Original Edwardian Charm Remodel

House, Entire place - San Francisco, United States

ID 263506

I have a three bedroom Mission Terrace home to offer vacationers for ($450/night with refundable deposit) from October 23 to November 1 - just in time for Halloween! Hablo espanol y ingles, tambien. The house was built in 1924 and is a perfect combination of the charming Edwardian architectural style meshed with modern updated renovation. My home gets tons of sunlight from all the windows and skylights during the day so it's well lit naturally. It comfortably sleeps 5 as two bedrooms have queen size beds and one has a single. More guests can fit on the living room floor or a bedroom floor as I also have a 4" foam queen size mattress. The whole home has a welcoming atmosphere - I know you'll love it! It's also within walking distance of the City College of San Francisco, CCSF, and all the other bay area colleges and universities if you've come here to check them out.

The living room has refinished original hardwood floors, ceiling rosette, decorative fireplace, original built-in shelving, a wall of windows, large suede couch, two club chairs, extra large 3' x 4' leather ottoman which can double as additional seating, parlor games, movies and WIFI throughout for quiet, fun nights in. The dining room seats 6 comfortably, 8 if you squeeze as we often do, buffet table with shelving, a wooden serving cart, the original hardwood floors and wood paneling.

The huge modern kitchen has all the modern conveniences including a 6-burner Viking gas stove, standing juice press, KitchenAide mixer, gourmet coffee maker, extra large toaster, industrial Vita-Mix juicer / blender, (the model that makes hot soup, nut butters, yogurt, cheese, nut milk, etc.), two new ovens and extra large broiler. It has everything one might need to make a large gourmet meal as well as seating for 7 around the 8' x 4' kitchen island. It also has a patio off the kitchen with gorgeous views day or night, a gas bbq available upon request, and a spiral staircase leading down to the backyard.

There are two modern full baths with gorgeous custom tile on both the floors and showers, and both showers have deluge shower heads. I have soft towels for you as well as shampoo/conditioner/soap in case someone forgets these items. In fact, my home comes with everything one might need in case luggage is lost or anything unforeseen is needed.

My home is about a 5 minute drive from either the 101 or 280 freeway (easiest from both SF Airport and Oakland Airports- use the Ocean Ave or Geneva exit), grocery stores, hardware store, fruit market, fresh butcher (including seafood), bakery, post office, UPS, hospital, museums, galleries, places for kids, all kinds of restaurants, banks, clubs, underground places, movie theater, fun dives, bike shop, pubs, bookstores, parks, clothing stores, thrift shops, dry cleaner, and the library. An easily accessible gas station is on the corner, (you'd be surprised how many Aren't easily accessible and I'd advise refueling there before each big outing). In other words, everything is very close and convenient including the corner store half a block away with food and necessities well as a park with playground, baseball/softball field, and indoor swimming pool right across the street!

On that same corner a half block away is the J Church public transportation stop - part of MUNI / San Francisco's public transportation system. More MUNI stops include BART and the Mission Street bus lines 14 and 49, which are a 5 minute walk away. Downtown can be reached in about 30 minutes by public transportation, (easiest from home is the J Church). Mission Terrace is fantastic with its neighborhood feel! It's just past Bernal Heights and easily accessible to everywhere you'd want to go. The J-Church line will to take you quickly to Bernal Heights, Noe Valley, the Castro, hip Mission District, Dolores Park, the Symphony, Ballet, City Hall, Union Square, and downtown. The quaint village of Glen Park and the Glen Park BART station is a 10 minute walk. The 280 and 101 freeways are a 5 minute drive. Even though you are close to the urban action, there's a feel of being closer to nature with all kinds of flowers and birds everywhere. The neighborhood has a safe family vibe and most folks have pride in their homes and keep up the pretty landscaping. Newly redone Balboa Park is across the street for dog walking, a fun play area for the little ones, skate park, tennis courts, and indoor pool.

You don't really need a car when you're here as Uber and Lyft are so easy to use and cost about half as much as a taxi. Getaround and RelayRides have multiple choices within a 2-3 minute walk. If you opt for daily use or hourly use of a car there's ZipCar and City Car Share.

I've been contacted recently by a lot of people thinking of attending school in the bay area, both for undergrad and graduate school. San Francisco General Hospital / UCSF is easy to get to via any Mission bus and is the closest shuttle pickup just in case you're coming to SF for a fellowship or internship. CalTrain is easily accessible in case you want to see Santa Clara University, San Jose State, or any of the tech companies down the peninsula, (Google, Yahoo, etc., have shuttle stops 5 minutes,, or if you want to use that service to get down the peninsula - I believe they have a stop at Stanford/Palo Alto).

Please email me with any questions you may have and I'll gladly answer them. Thanks for your interest and have a wonderful time wherever you decide to stay in SF!

Ps: Unfortunately, I'm allergic to smoke so I ask that you smoke only on the patio or in the backyard with sliding doors closed. I also have two smaller dogs who live downstairs with me but if you're allergic this probably isn't the place for you, (I care for them by the separate side entrance, so will not disturb the guests).

Ps again: If you'd like to have more people stay with you, I do have a 4" foam queen size mattress they could sleep in one of the bedrooms or living room or they could sleep on the couch in the living room.

The apartment is stated as ground floor, but is actually a very low ground flor level, verging on basement. There are plenty of windows though, so it is not dark. A larger dinning table would have been nice. Apart from that a fine apartment
