The antique house used in the Bali Shikumen Villa was originally from Java, which has a significant Chinese population, and the original structure, comprising a traditional Chinese square arch, is constructed from century old teak wood. The distinctive design for the Tropical Infusions Shikumen features the use of stone gateways and shaded courtyards, and the interior design incorporates rich colours and fabrics from China, as well as artifacts from the Indonesian archipelago. These are skilfully blended with modern conveniences and contemporary aesthetics to create a comfortable and elegant environment.
While the structure is antique, contemporary luxury is also a central aspect of the Tropical Infusions Shikumen Villa and Shikumen Suite. Refurbished as unique two and one bedroom, luxury villas, complete with spacious living room, gourmet kitchen, antique ceramic Chinese hip-bath, private swimming pool (Shikumen Villa only), TV, DVD, Wi-Fi, complimentary bath products, flowers, fruit basket and oriental courtyard setting. The 2 bedroom Shikumen Villa can be combined with the 1 bedroom Shikumen Suite to create a 3 bedroom private villa. The well trained staff are discreet and attentive, providing personalised guest service.
Hidden in a secluded lane, but within Bali’s premiere tourist district, the Bali Shikumen Villa is located in fine company; fine dining, fine shopping, fine night-life. Only 500 metres from the beach, it is the perfect location for a relaxing and sensuous holiday with numerous options for you to explore, including the option to stay right where you are.
Shikumen houses originated in China in the mid 1800′s, and featured large stone gateways opening onto enclosed courtyards, and a mixture of Eastern and Western architecture. With the advancing pace of development, Shikumen are fast disappearing in mainland China, and are the inspiration behind Tropical Infusions Shikumen.
