History's Reserved Place

We invite you to stay in the ancient town of Melnik and enjoy the tranquillity, comfort and quality of a holiday set in the past.

The Litov House is built over the ruins of a medieval house built in the second half of the 12th century, according to the archaeological research conducted on the location prior to the construction.

The Litov House reproduces the architectural image of the Middle Ages. There is an authentic wine cellar carved into the cliff at the ground floor of the house It is currently one of Melnik's tourist attractions, because it is the oldest preserved wine cellar in the town, which was once famous for its great wine all over Europe and Northern Africa.

Melnik - a museum town, a historical town, the smallest town in Bulgaria... You enter the town and it is as if you have entered the past - picturesque small tiled roof houses, narrow streets and cobblestone roads. It is as if time has stopped here. It is a quiet and tranquil town, but customer service here is world class. Cosy hotels, taverns serving traditional Bulgarian cuisine, wine cellars, gift shops - this is what Melnik offers today.

Melnik is located in Southwestern Bulgaria. Its population is only 300 people- it is the smallest town in Bulgaria. It is situated in a mountainous area, 437 meters above sea level. The Rozhen monastery is located 7 km away from Melnik.

The red wine that you will sample here will make you question the claim that real wine can only be found in France. Melnik wine is rich in taste and aroma. Melnik's wine houses are well know even in places far away from Bulgaria and that is not an accident - wine production has been developed here for hundreds of years and its secrets have been passed from generation to generation. Melnik's climate is suitable for growing various sorts of grapes - one of the sorts unique to the town is the Wide Melnik grape.

Visit this small but magnificent town - you will not be disappointed.
