The Stone House Pitve is located in the quite village of Pitve overlooking the tranquil town of Jelsa. Just 3km in the opposite directions are the most beautiful beaches that Hvar has to offer. Put your feet up, pour a glass of wine and listen to the sounds of silence that surround you. The entire village is a protected site and exists today as it has since it was first inhabited and is one of the oldest settlements on the island, made up of a lower (older) and upper (newer) settlement. The lower settlements has even been mentioned in the Illyrian era while the newer settlement was constructed in the 15th and beginning of the 16th century.
Cottage Pitve was complete renovated in 2012.
The first thing that visitor’s will notice as they make their way to the house is the authenticity of the building and surrounding houses. Beautiful massive stones make up the entire facade of this building in the same fashion as was done in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is only when visitor enter the house do they get surprised by the modern amenities and comforts that this property offers.
As you walk into the house through a massive oak doorway, your attention is immediately drawn to the opposing wall where through the glass we get a glimpse of a small Mediterranean garden.
Taking two steps down you enter the main living room with kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped will modern appliances making cooking easy and quick with induction cookers and multi-use microwave/convection oven. In the middle of the room is a large granite dining table and just past this is a small living room area with SAT TV and a large fireplace.
There are two separate bedrooms each with their own modern bathrooms. One bedroom includes a queen sized bed (160x200) while the other room has a custom made bunk bed system (120x200 & 90x200).
Since this bottom of this house was originally used as a wine cellar, the back of the house is partially underground. This keeps the temperature inside the house at a perfect temperature which means that air conditioning is not necessary. While outdoors the summer temperatures can reach up to 35 degrees, the inside will always be cool and comfortable.
Just outside the house there are stairs leading to a large terrace which is completely hidden away from site. This area is perfect for lounging in the day or sipping wine under the stars by night.
The small harbor village of Jelsa is located by the sea just a few km below Pitve. Jelsa offers multiple restaurants, cafes, cocktail bars, excursions, grocery stores, gas station and a pharmacy.
