THE LOCAL AREA
A microcosm of London's shifting ethnic patterns, the area around Brick Lane in East London was once associated with poor slums and the scene of the crime for the Jack the Ripper murders. Whilst the notorious pub Ten Bells still stands, the area itself is now extremely popular with London’s edgy and artistic crowd, featuring galleries, restaurants, markets and festivals throughout the year.
The Old Truman Brewery at 91 Brick Lane houses a vibrant market where up-and-coming designers set up shop every Sunday selling a unique variety of clothes, handbags and jewellery. There are also vintage clothing stores and chic boutiques dotted around the area.
As a hub of London's Bangladeshi community, Brick Lane has always been famed for its many authentic curry restaurants. It now also has a reputation for its warehouse art exhibitions and trendy clubs and bars. So, before your East London experience is complete, be sure to head to the Vibe Bars beer garden or 93 Feet East (150 Brick Lane) which has become an East End institution well known for its eclectic mix of live music and intimate atmosphere.
Twenty years ago, this was rough-and-ready Hackney heartland, where cockneys mixed uneasily with newer arrivals, and seedy strip bars proliferated. Then London's artists moved in and now it is the trendiest place in the capital, a Mecca for skinny jeans, checked shirts, ironic haircuts, edgy art galleries and hip bars that play music that will only become fashionable in about six months time. Keep an eye on the walls, as well, for many of the artists don't feel the need to obey the law when creating work and the graffiti is impressively weird and witty. Hoxton Square and Jay Jopling's White Cube gallery are where it all started and remain the heart of the area, while on a Friday night, the bars and clubs of Old Street are a strange place where the pinstripes and ties of the City mingle with the extravagant fashions of the avant-garde.
London's oldest market, Spitalfields is now a seven-days-a-week destination. Spitalfields markets, once a Sunday-only mainstay, are open every day. Resplendent under a Fosters & Partners-designed glass canopy, Spitalfields Traders Market and shops offer cutting edge fashion and interiors, original artworks and as well as food.
Spitalfields market is surrounded by independent shops, cafes, bars and awarding winning restaurants like Canteen, Galvin La Chapell and Giraffe.
COLUMBIA STREET FLOWER MARKET
For an authentic East London experience, nothing comes close to Columbia Road market on a Sunday morning. Jam packed with the best blooms in the capital, it’s a lively and pretty noisy affair (and not for those who prefer peace and quiet on a Sunday), with salt-of-the-earth Eastender types, shouting at the top of their lungs and all trying to outdo one another's patter.
During the rest of the week you can dine and shop at the rest of the quaint little restaurants and boutiques.
THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO BE IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE LONDON AT ITS BEST!!!
The guest will have full and private access to the complete apartment.

I stayed here with 7 friends and it was great. The apartment was clean and cosy and close to the city. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to London.

Meenaz was a fantastic host who kept in touch with us throughout our stay. The washing machine was broken on our arrival, but Meenaz worked tirelessly to find a solution (even offering a machine in another apartment) until a new machine was installed a couple of days later. Thanks for a great stay, your flat is great!
