I have hosted over 200 people with great reviews on otther sites and hope to host you for carnaval here! To get to know me maybe you can look at what I reccomend! Bars, clubs Miroir Club in Lagoa - Electronic, near the lagoon (Friday and Sat) https://miroirclub.com.br/ Rio Scenarium in Lapa - Samba/ Musica-Popular-Brasileira (MPB) (Thursday - Sat) http://www.rioscenarium.com.br/ Carioca da Gema in Lapa - I heard it is great on the weekends and Monday, I have not been yet, but you should for sure check it out http://www.barcariocadagema.com.br/bar.htm Leblon bar scene: Belmonte in Leblon - great pre-game bar for beers (Thurs - Sun) http://www.botecobelmonte.com.br/belmonte/contato.htm Veloso – my personal favorite even though the crowd has moved on to Belmonte http://www.barveloso.com.br/ Jobi – small and packed with people on the streets (Thurs – Sun) http://www.timeout.com.br/rio-de-janeiro/en/bars/venues/128/jobi Hotel Fasano in Ipanema (Thursday - Saturday) - very chic hotel W like lounge and club http://www.fasano.com.br/hotelaria/hotel/2 Lapa neighborhood (Thursay - Saturday) - near the arcs great people watching http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2757148-arcos_da_lapa_rio_de_janeiro-i Baixo de Gavea – tons of bars, but everyone is in the street drinking beer and looking good. (Thursday night) Rua Bolivar - in Copacabana, has a lot of good restaurants and bars Rua Farme de Amoeda - in Ipanema has a lot of good restaurants and bars Parties Pedra do Sal – a big street party at the original place of samba downtown (Friday and Monday) Free Walking tour – I know the girls who do it. You should definitely check it out as it is a great historic view of Rio as it was the original capital of Brazil (tip: It´s really not free as they expect a tip of like R$20-30, but I think its worth it!) http://www.freewalkertours.com/ Rainy day? This is not my list but, for those of you who visit Rio in rainy season… Time Out Rio's 20 best things to do in the rain: http://www.timeout.com.br/rio-de-janeiro/en/aroundtown/features/210/rios-20-best-things-to-do-in-the-rain Brazilan foods you must try: Acai – a very healthy fruit only found in the Amazon that is deep frozen and served with granola and other fruits – get this at any corner juice store Juices – there are like 50 different fruit juices here on every corner. Make it your goal to try them all! Guarana – this is the Brazilian soda they love and so do I. You should try it! Pastel – think empanada, but Brazilian. It is a deep fried or baked pasty stuffed with beef or chicken or cheese or shrimp or all of the above – the best Pastel is in Leblon at “BB Lanches” Churrasco – you must go to all you can eat meat! Porcão is a good one Brigadeiro – a very sweet chocolate ball that normally comes with sprinkles on the outside Crème de Papaya (crème of papaya) - not necessarily the most well know Brazilian dessert, but my personal favorite Feijoada – It does not get more Brazilian than this. It is full of different kinds of meat, beans and rice and very filling. Bring your appetite! Other: Ok, I stopped being lazy and here is my semi-full service. I really have no idea how to get to sugar loaf, the Christ. I took a taxi 3 years ago… but here are the sights I found with the help of my friend google Sugar Loaf (Pão de Açucar) http://www.myriotravelguide.com/bus-from-copacabana-to-sugar-loaf/ Christ/ Humpback [mountain] / Christ the Redeemer - Cristo/ Corcovado/ Cristo Redentor http://www.myriotravelguide.com/how-to-get-to-christ-the-redeemer-from-copacabana/
